I use AI on this platform for specific things: handling social media optimization and answering basic questions when I'm out shooting. I know AI is a sensitive topic, especially for artists. Some people think it's going to destroy creativity. Some people think it's destroying the environment.
This page exists to be completely transparent about what AI does here, what it doesn't do, and the actual facts about energy usage so you can make informed decisions.
You've probably seen posts on Facebook claiming AI is killing the environment through massive energy use. Here's what the data actually shows:

Here's the ironic part: A lot of people complaining about AI energy on Facebook are doing it on a platform running massive AI systems for showing you posts, targeting ads, recognizing faces in photos, and moderating content. All of that runs in giant data centers.
Every time you stream a show, scroll Instagram, or back up photos to the cloud, you're using data center energy. AI isn't uniquely evil here - it's part of the entire digital infrastructure we all use.
Two things. That's it.
When artists fill out their profiles - bio, description, whatever they write - AI takes that content and rewrites it to work better with Instagram and Facebook's algorithms.
Those platforms use AI to decide what posts people see. The algorithm changes constantly. What worked last month doesn't work this month. Artists shouldn't have to chase those changes.
The AI pulls what artists write, restructures it for how the current algorithm ranks content, and posts it. The words are still theirs. The story is still theirs. It's just formatted for how these platforms work right now.
There's a chat system on the site that answers questions about the platform and Houston music scene. It pulls information from what's already on the website.
Ask about artist profiles, venues, platform features, anything documented here - it can help. Ask about something that's not on the site, you get a standard response directing you elsewhere.
This exists so people can get basic info when I'm out shooting. It's not replacing human interaction - it's handling "where do I find X" questions so I can focus on documenting performances.

AI energy usage matters. So does all the other stuff. The question isn't "does this use energy?" - everything does. The questions are: Is it being used responsibly? Does it provide real value? Is it run efficiently? Are people's rights protected?
For this platform: yes to all of those.
AI is a tool. Cars use gas and create emissions, but we use them because they're necessary. Guns can be used responsibly or dangerously. The tool itself isn't good or bad - it's about how you use it and who controls it.
